My last blog post was in August 2023 (about 9 months ago), so it’s a fair question to ask what I’ve been up to since then. My answer is that I’ve been doing a lot of reading.
If you’ve read my resume or the About Me section of my website, you’d know that I majored in Statistics; and after many years of working in Engineering, I felt that I lacked sufficient knowledge of Computer Science.
Well, there’s a website called Teach Yourself Computer Science that lists a couple of books for self-study. Feeling pretty confident about basic programming, Databases and Algorithms & Data Structures, I decided to read these books:
- Operating Systems: Three Easy Pieces
- Computer Networking: A Top-Down Approach
- Designing Data-Intensive Applications
Now that I’ve read all three of these books, I may review them in future blog posts. At the moment, I’m creating some notes around Designing Data-Intensive Applications, but this won’t take up too much time.
What’s next? I’ll probably take an online course on Large Language Models then scrap together a novel project (as if the Chat Bot I made wasn’t enough, lol). As always, thanks for reading and see you next time!
